Interview and self-promotion

A workshop for academic and research staff involved in interview of research staff and students in which we deal with principles of recruitment and selection, identifying the qualities required in researchers, different approaches to interview, questioning techniques to obtain useful information, building a standard approach to all interviewees, evaluating performance in interview and relating this to other information, critical reading of academic and research CVs. Decision making and appointments. This is designed to help staff identify the important qualities in research students and staff, and to pick the best candidates from a list of applicants.

This is a half-day session that can be tailored around local practice codes and traditions in order to meet institutional needs.
